HI, my name is MEL
PHOTOS AREN'T WORTH ANYTHING IS THEY DON'T HAVE SOUL AND EYES THAT SPEAK TO YOU... they need feeling and a big booming heart to catch you deep in your chest for many years to come.
Our babies only grow within us for 9 months and our children are only small for what feels like a fleeting moment. Weddings only last one day but become one of the most important of our lives. Photographs are our memories, they tell the story of our lives. They are the all big moments, but mostly, they are made up of all the small ones.
I'm working hard to tell the truth with my photography. The every day moments, mornings in the kitchen with their messy hair and those toys they can't put down, the look you give them when they reach to you for cuddles. The moments on your wedding day with friends and family and each other, those moments of connectedness are so alluring to me. They make my heart sing. I want to shoot in a way that not only celebrates the beauty in our lives but works to embrace the raw and messy and shows you there is beauty in that too.
I want you to look at your photographs and say "These photos are perfectly us".

Motherhood photography is a huge net that covers a myriad of ways we see mothers with their children. I include in this, MATERNITY images of you alone, or with your child; MOTHERHOOD at home or on location; and BIRTH, the most precious thing to witness. I am not someone that comes to sessions with pre-conceptions and plans. These stories for me are about slowness, following the light, looking for things that connect and help to reveal the true nature of you as a mother.

If you're in love and are happy to show it, I'm here for it. If you're in love and a bit worried about being the centre of attention for a day, I'm here for you. I have photographed many weddings and all couples are different. Some love the limelight but many of my couples are the opposite and need someone who appreciates that we don't all feel comfortable be in front of a camera. A wedding is not something to be replicated, but to be felt. So that's what we focus on, how you feel with each other, the guests, making moments happen through thoughtful planning of the day, not by forced smiles and poses. Families can be fun, crazy and unpredictable. Others are calm, love a bushwalk or may even sit still long enough for a cuddle. There aren't expections from me about what your family should look like. Mine has had every iteration. They change and they grow all too quickly. A toddler who has wild outbursts and is the "silly one", can become a teenager who is quiet and loves nothing more than cuddling and watching a movie with you. It ebbs and flows and we ride the wave with love and awe. I capture that, however - whatever - it is, all of it as we move through it. Newborns, toddlers, childhoods and adolescents, each stage as wonderous as the next - hard and soft, tricky and not. I want you to see you in your photos, not a model family that you don't recognise. I have always had an artists heart and I am in awe of people who create. I have had the pleasure of photographing some wonderful artists and love to see them glow in their natural environments.
